Envision the changes we must make to prevent The Last Girls from becoming The Forgotten Women
Advocacy is an important component of Survivor Speak USA's mission. We believe it is only through community awareness, education, and informed discussion that public support can lead to policy changes on the local and state levels. These essential policy changes must be diligently advocated for, with leadership from survivors, in order to sustainably impact the lives of people coming out of sex trafficking or sexploitation.
Survivor Speak USA advocates for:
Broadening the definition of sex trafficking in Maine's laws.
Providing health care and housing for all women coming out of sex trafficking and lives of sexploitation for a reasonable period of time while they gain stability.
Including survivor leaders on the advisory boards of all organizations providing services and training in the area of sex trafficking and sexploitation.
Working towards ensuring an effective, statewide training for professionals, which provides a consistent approach and continuity of care for sex trafficked and sexploited survivors.
